The Retro Edinburgh Festival Express
Due to popular demand, we are re-running our ‘Edinburgh Festival Express’ tour. 2017 is the festival’s 70th anniversary, and is expected to be bigger and better than ever. The specially chartered train will pick up at Chesterfield, before taking the Hope Valley line towards Greater Manchester and round towards West Yorkshire. We then look forward to a fast run along the East Coast Mainline, arriving in Edinburgh at lunchtime.
There will be plenty to see and do in the city, where we will have around four hours break. The train will return south in the evening, returning you to your origin station. We have requested a DRS Class 68 locomotive to haul this tour.
Confirmed timings will be available here very shortly
The following timings are estimated:
We have requested a Direct Rail Services (DRS) Class 68 to haul this tour.
Our famous "Real Ale" bar is available, serving hand-pumped ales from Greenfield Brewery as well as hot & cold snacks. In addition a trolley service will be available in both First and Standard class.
These traditional, comfy British Rail coaches are ideal for a day out. Seating in standard class are arranged in bays of four, the majority with tables.
If you want a little extra luxury, First class is perfect. The coaches feature spacious, well padded seats, and will make your trip that bit more special!
A 'table for two' supplement is available, but please book early to avoid disappointment, as these are expected to sell out.
This includes a First Class seat, breakfast and a 3-course evening meal.
Also there will be an at-seat service providing a couple of rounds of complimentary tea and coffee during the journey.
We can be flexible with requirements for children, any special requests or dietary needs. Please call us to enquire.Fares
